countering extremism through education 〰️
Did you attend secondary school in the UK?
We are conducting a study to better understand which topics are taught in secondary schools, and how students engage with them. Responses so far have highlighted a wide range of subjects - from social change and technological developments to historical events and case studies.
This research forms part of our wider work to support more inclusive and representative approaches to education. We are particularly interested in how different aspects of the past are explored, and how this shapes young people’s understanding of the world around them today.
Our aim is to contribute to the development of educational approaches that:
support a broader understanding of how modern Britain has been shaped, including the contributions of people from a wide range of backgrounds,
ensure that learning reflects the diversity of experiences within society, helping all students to feel represented and engaged.
By gathering a wide range of perspectives, we hope to better understand current practice and identify opportunities to support schools and educations.
